We only had 90 minutes here at Mendenhall Glacier, and my legs were having a very bad day. I had hoped to make it to the base of Nugget Falls for some closer shot of both it and the glacier, but it was not possible. So, I resorted to my trusty 70-300mm and hobbled to the vantage points available to me. If you ever go to Alaska, be prepared for drastic, difficult light changes, depending on the time of year and time of day. Makes it very sporty, don't you know!

Thanks Chuck - it's been great fun spending the time to go back through these images. Such a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the conditions. Our glacier was the opposite end of the planet, Chile. When I got home I swapped SD cards in the PC to download the shots and it crashed and all was lost. From Beagle channel to Valparaiso, all gone. I had about 2 days of mourning before I moved on.😊
ReplyDeleteHow sad! I downloaded reviewed on the back of the camera frequently, downloaded every night and backed up the downloads, but still worried the ship would hit an iceberg, sink and I would live but my photos wouldn't! I could find no help from any landscape photographers online about handling that light. I'm not thrilled with the edits, but so happy to have the exposures.
ReplyDeleteNothing like visiting your post three months later, because somehow I had missed this particular one. I was here, albeit late. Love the glaciers! #13 is my favorite, the green and the blue just beautiful!
