Minimalist - 52 Frames Week 4

I don't plan on doing the 52 Frames challenge every week - some just don't appeal to me (portraits) or are out of my reach (street). But I do learn a lot, as with all challenges, and with seeing others visions of how to respond to such challenges. These are likely candidates, though I'm still "fooling" with some.

  1. Loving your candidates and have not seen the album yet to see which one you ended up posting. But I think one thing I learned from looking at your set is that just with a slight movement of the crop tool one can create a minimalistic photo, something I had notconcidered nor tried. Btw posting that first photo as your main link to fopb....genius 😁

    1. Thanks! Of course, I ended up with a last minute shot from an freak capture. But, I probably should have used the water tower. Oh, well. Yeah, I play with crops because I can't see well enough through the viewfinder, or LV, to accurately crop. I got a 7" HDMI monitor for still life/macro work, and that really helps, but out in the field, I have to know I'm going to crop on post. Yeah, glad I caught Gethin. It's funny that Marilyn never looks at the post, just the first photo - I'll school her the next time I talk to her and Des.

  2. Love the water tower so iconic rural America. Reminded me of What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

    1. It does, doesn't it, except for the fact that Collierville's is pristine. Collierville is the nearest "town" and is a suburb of Memphis, but feels like a real small town, especially after the shooting at the local Kroger grocery store some months back. Everyone really came together and supported the survivors. It has been consistently rated as the best place to live in Tennessee, and, my brother and sister-in-law, with whom I live, resided there for many years(after the military). But, now we really live in small town America - Rossville. I'll try to get a photo of our water tower because it's a poor cousin to Collierville's!
